Almost (beautiful)I am not perfect
         not like this sunrise
                   and I shall not live half as long
                             as the sun
    nor shall I ever sing as softly
         as does the wind through my hair
              but I still
                   believe
                        that I
                                                  can be

                                                                 beautiful

                             In knowing this
      I am content
                                                        and so I
                                 allow
                 
Greying          In my youth I believed that
            hearts
         and
           love
 were simple things
   mere matters of
                          honesty
                                 and
                                    openness
 and now...
    I know otherwise
       but I still
                   remember
          the quiet innocence of a
                                                       lonely child
          and I cry-
                    wondering
                             and
                       fearing
                  what has changed

                                   
FaithSome times, I think I feel you
                                             r e a c h ing out
                                  for me
                                             in the      stillness      and the
                         night

but then I remember
                                                                      you're gone
               and where you've gone
                                                       there is
                                                                         nothing
to reach for

                    not even        me

                                  Or so, that'
Variable TruthI do not know my future
I cannot see the vagaries of
Time's tides
The ebbs and flows elude me
Yet, for all the uncertainties
in all the chaos of
distance traveled
time spent
and
souls lost and
gained,
there is one string that I can follow
one thread that shines for me and
through me
that pulses in time with my heart
Yours
I swear, even across this expanse
this eternity
I can almost see
you
StarlightI walk along a road of dreams
paved with
expectations and
wishes
stepping on stones of starry-eyed
wonder
and
regret
alive for all my failings and
content for my lack of fulfillment
always uplifted and uplifting
upon this winding, wending
slow-spiral upwards
Treading on hope and faith with what
grace
I can manage
as awash in lucidity
as the stellar nurseries of my
childhood
Would you believe that I saw it all with my
heart,
not my eyes
?
After...     Blade

    bone            
                          hewing
    voices          
                          raised
    blood          
                          spewing
    sinking
                          deeper
      horror
                        brewing
        what
                      am

Purity                     When I am                alone
                              I am my most
                                                      pure
                  and in my
                                   pur i ty
                              I am
                                     b  r  o  k  e  n
                                                           lost
                                          afraid
                                                    and         lacking
                                   so much
                 of what I
                                was
                 
Drift                                              Sometimes
                                                when I drift
                                I end up some place
                                                 safe
                                        some place
                                               warm
                                     some place
                                                                beautiful

                                   and then I cry
                                                           because it's then
             that moment
                           
Half-LightSometimes
         in the twilight hours
alone
              in the half-light
I
    feel
         something...
 wonderful
      beautiful
 ...
and
  for a few moments
    I
  for
     get
I forget everything
         and
              I
                   smile

at the distance
between my past
and
my future
2 CirclesDraw a circle,
Fill it with Dreams, hopes,
Fears and that lingering feeling
Something bumping under
Inside, dark places
And hidden corners
Paint little cobwebs of
Imaginary monsters
With their outstretched hands,
Teeth, baited breath

Draw another circle,
Overlapping the first
Set this one a blaze with
Dishes and curios
Dusting, laundry
A career, a forest
The mountains
Your first kiss
Your last breath

In the space between these circles;
This space, the sacred space between the seen and unseen
The imaginary and the real

This is a mundane life.
FreewriteI am not sure how to do this
I do not really like to write my thoughts down anymore
because I do not enjoy looking into my mind and having
to listen to all the noise
my head is always too loud
too chaotic too crazy too dysfunctional
I am not doing this right because I am
too focused on saying something interesting or
profound or what people will think when they read this;
these people are all real poets and good poets
and I feel like I am just playing along and pretending to be good
while I scramble through my brain to try to invent
something beautiful or unique or clever or even
just something that perfectly describes the ordinary
but maybe
BreezeWhen I was younger I was

Destined to be alone but always
believing
otherwise

Trampled as I was by the
transgressions
of neglect
I always believed in tomorrow
and my own
good intentions

But the lessons were repeated
as though I
were a dog
Never - will - you - find - love
you stupid, foolish, undeserving
child

And so sometimes,
I broke

Alone with my tears and my
thoughts, I found a sort of
solace whenever a strong breeze blew

Leaning into it, I could almost feel
embraced
Leaning into it, I could almost feel

We all have our regrets, don't we? I suppose the thing to ask, though is...

should we?

Every passing minute... is another chance to turn it all around

There is a lot that you cannot hope to change, hope to influence, hope to turn around but there are many more things that you can. Your words, your actions, they all have the potential to mean so much to the right person, the right people, and you should always remember that every second of every day is just another chance to make that moment matter...

For all the millions of things in the world that are worth regretting and agonizing over, do not let your words or your actions be among them. Bearing this in mind, I have something to tell you

Usually I'm not interested in such kind of poetry...
BUT...
I don't know...I stumbled upon this and felt hooked...and moved...
It's poetry in art form...or art in poetry form...

This is definitely something new to me! I'm not sure why I haven't done this a lot more for nearly everything I've written... I guess it just never really occurred to me until very recently!

:giggle: Are they? You're a darling :bow: If I had to guess, though, I would say that it has a lot to do with the build-up - in the poem itself and that was happening inside me - that really lent itself to the end. In fact both "Wonderment" and "Greying" were written in a matter of minutes while listening to a song I love has a lot to do with it, too (emotional support!). I'm quite pleased that you think it ends so well :) as that can be a difficult thing to do!
